Yet, at any point in this process, qualitative research can ‘stir things up’ by questioning definitions, re—operationalizing constructs, or by introducing new and overlooked constructs and relationships. My general advice to scholars is to read in an area of scholarship that interests you, and become familiar with the constructs and theories in use. Simultaneously, stay attuned to a particular real-world phenomenon as much as you can.
